Following the smashing success of Bowdoin Art Society’s fall art show in Ladd house, BAS has joined forced with Delta Sigma / Delta Upsilon Chapter to host its largest exhibition yet… featuring an interactive installation Past, Future, and Present created by the BAS curatorial committee, sound art, and more. The opening will feature performance artist Joe Lake, Longfellows, pianist Steve Cho, and wine and cheese. Five winners of the competition are awarded $200 each.
The exhibition occupies the upward circular ramp in Smith Union (in a manner similar to the Guggenheim Museum in NYC) and the Lemarge Gallery.
The Delta Sigma / Delta Upsilon visual arts competition was established in 1999 in honor of the Bowdoin chapter of Delta Sigma/Delta Upsilon fraternity by its alumni corporation. During its time at Bowdoin Delta Sig/Delta U was known for the creative and artistic sprit of its membership. The competition was established as a way to continue the tradition of ‘non-formalized’ creativity Delta Sig/Delta U fostered during its time at Bowdoin. All undergraduate students are eligible to enter. The judges look for creativity, originality, and good technique within the chosen medium. Each student may enter three pieces of art or one series.
